Spending the Last Day of School in Ciudad Morazan!

On November 3, the students of Escuela Debbie Kakanas, a school in a neighborhood near Ciudad Morazán, came to the soccer fields to play for their last day of school. The ZEDE lends them its green areas so they can play and do physical exercise.

Ciudad Morazán is an excellent place for them to play because of the great security of the Ciudad Morazán ZEDE. The members of nearby neighborhood soccer teams also come to train with their teams, run, or spend the afternoon playing on the football field.

Some of the residents came out to play with the kids. Some even tried keeping up with them, myself included. It didn’t take long to realize my age. After I opted out from exhaustion, the kids kept playing for hours longer.

Near the end of their playtime, the property manager of the ZEDE surprised them with some treats from the store! They all gathered in a circle and rested while the teachers came around with their soda and snacks.

Once everyone received their treats, they collectively gave the manager a cheerful “Thanks!”

We hope it was a final day of school that the kids will remember and be able to tell their parents about, and we hope to host them again in the future!
